After successfully piloting the first NATO GFP course at the beginning of 2019 in Sofia, the CMDR COE and the NCGM have continued strengthening their cooperation in joint endevours aimed at facilitating the integration of gender perspectives in military context. The CMDR COE has been invited to support a joint NCGM – UNWomen project aimed at capacity-building, institutional support and technical expertise for the Georgian security and defence sector. To this effect, a Mobile Training and Education Team (METT) consisting of instructors from the CMDR COE and the NCGM will conduct a tailored NATO GFP General Awareness seminar in Georgia so as to support the creation of a sustainable GFP structure, hence – facilitate the integration of gender perspectives in military context.
Aim:
The GFP General Awareness seminar aims at enabling personnel to perform successfully as a GFP within strategic and operational organisations. The tailored course will provide trainees with information on GENAD Advisory Structure and the knowledge of how their role as a GFP contributes to larger organisational efforts to institutionalize the application of gender perspectives in all activities. The main goal is to raise awareness on the GFP's role in supporting their chain of command in mainstreaming gender perspectives within their own area of responsibility.
Training Audience:
Military officers (OF-2 and higher) and/or civil equivalent from Georgian Ministry of Defence (MoD), Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI) and subordinate authorities.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand basic gender mainstreaming principles;
-Discuss CR-SGBV in relation to chain of commands’ / functional area of responsibility.
- Understand how to liaise with external organisations to assist with the implementation of gender perspectives.
- Develop working relationships, within own organisation, to assist with the chain of commands’ integration of gender perspectives.
- Establish functional dialogue with GENAD.
- Maintain a monitoring function.
- Report on data in reports for integration of gender perspectives.
- Contribute to the lessons learned process.
Prerequisites:
There is no prerequisite for this course. However, trainees are strongly encouraged to undergo NATO ADL 169 - Improving Operational Effectiveness by Integrating Gender Perspective and ADL 171 – Gender Focal Point.

Methodology:
The seminar consists of interactive lectures, practical tasks, and case studies. The study method used is premised on the principles of adult learning so as to allow trainees to be actively internalising and processing new knowledge. Dedicated mentors will support the learning process navigating trainees' syndicate work.

Language:
The command of English language should be at a professional level, according to the criteria stated in STANAG 6001- 3-2-3-2. Equivalent civilian certification will also be accepted.
Attendance:
Regular attendence is required for smooth internalisation of the seminar programme. Late arrivals or early departures cannot be accepted.
Dress code:
General (both military and civilian): Smart casual (no jeans, no shorts)
Optional (military): Summer uniforms
Registration:
Mandatory online registration should be completed as soon as possible, but no later than 26 JUL 2019. The required minimum is set at 10 participants, and the maximum – 30.
Medical:
Participants are expected to have a valid full medical and other insurance coverage.
Fee:
There is no fee for this event.
Cancellation:
Cancellation of participation is only possible with a 2-week notice prior to the start date of the course.
